Solitude - US Magazine, The News International

By: Syed Hamza Asad

When the stars would disappear

For all the lovers in the town

My heart would cease to beat

To see the bliss all around

My despairing love will kick the grave,

In which I have willingly slept.

My grave would disperse on the land,

My soul would scatter in the sand,

What would be worse than that?

I was a lover of one I never had

So I let my soul then rest in pieces -

And let the devils eat me up!

A love for a Love has given me birth,

A cry for a Cry has given me death.

I am a leaf fallen from a tree,

I am an ocean full of blood

I am a bird shot by a hunter,

And I am a cloud melting too fast

In my solitude...

From Fatima Bhutto

Dear Mr. Asad,

Thank you for your email and support. Pakistan has indeed been
highjacked by corrupt and ineffectual politicians and they are leading
our country into a fresh grave. We, young men and women of Pakistan,
citizens, writers, activists, are speaking out, protesting, but we
need more voices, more support from our fellow Pakistanis. We are
working to bring power back to the rightful rulers of this country -
the people. I hope you will join our struggle to empower the people -
and as a writer you certainly seem to be heading in the right
direction! Thank you for sending me the story, keep believing in Che
and keep writing.

In solidarity,

Fatima Bhutto

Addicted To Love - US Magazine, The News International

(Addicted To Love)

Missing your company
At the time of sunset
Is my old habit
Today I decided
To change my habit
Then I kept on thinking
Till it was blue
I couldn’t change my mind
I was so confused
Perhaps I was still addicted,
To the threads of love!
I planned to step back
But the truth did not unfold
I wanted to cross the grounds
Of solitude
At last, I changed my mood
Now I began to think
An idle king can only love you
Through the eye of a panther
So let the sun set now
I’ve stopped wondering around!
As the love which you enjoyed
At the time of departure
Addicted me to you,
When the spirit of love
Passed across my mind...
Now I’ve decided...
To sink in this evening,
This way leads to my passion
Until I collapse!
